Summary
Are you looking to build a career in farming? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you as this role offers hands-on experience and the chance to grow within a supportive team at Swingdon Farm, a family-run dairy farm based in Devon.
We are seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join the team in a hands-on role on this farm. Duties will vary throughout the year in line with business needs, so we are looking for someone with a flexible, can-do attitude who is eager to get involved in all aspects of farm work.
You will be working as part of a small, close-knit team, so strong teamwork skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take initiative are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the herds person with daily milking routines and general animal care
Supporting with calving duties
Assisting with artificial insemination (AI) and servicing
Participating in pasture and grazing management
Carrying out general yard work
Undertaking routine farm maintenance
Performing other tasks as required to support the smooth running of the farm

Entry requirements
Agricultural experience preferred but not essential.
You will preferably hold Maths & English GCSE at grade C or above.

You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.
As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in agriculture.
Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.
You will gain a General Farm Worker Level 2 qualification with further opportunities for training, development and permanent employment upon completion.
Things to consider
This is a physical job within a small team. Activities are carried outside and inside in all weathers. Hours/days will vary depending on business needs and you will be on a Monday -Sunday rota, so you will need to be flexible. Please ensure you research the location and transport access prior to applying.
