Summary

As an essential member of the Waste & Environmental Services Team, you will coordinate staff members, contractors, managing agents, and other key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively. You will be assisting the Council in meeting its obligations under the Government waste reforms, including introducing food waste collection for households and other environmental projects. You will also support the implementation of the new Leicestershire Resources and Waste Strategy for Melton.

About you

The ideal candidate will need to be an enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised person. You will need to have a good track record of supporting projects including documentation, along with evidence of supporting project managers to deliver these to time, quality and cost. You will need to be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to work under pressure to help to support in delivering against key milestones and will need to have good prioritisation skills. You will need to have strong communication skills and be able to engage with both internal and external stakeholders in a proactive, politically sensitive manner. You will need to be customer focused and assist in anticipating customer changes to deliver high service standards.

Waste management experience and knowledge is not essential but is desirable.

This role reports directly to the Waste & Environmental Services Manager but will be expected to lead and coordinate some elements of the project to ensure they remain on track to meeting important deadlines.

Some key duties include:
- Monitoring project budgets, including forecasting, expenditure, and costs against delivered benefits and outcomes.

- Supporting the governance and monitoring of projects, maintaining risk registers and issue logs.

- Engaging with various stakeholders, including community members and internal teams, to gather feedback and inform project decisions.

- Leading and facilitating meetings and discussions to resolve issues and enhance collaboration.

- Obtaining and evaluating quotes from suppliers, placing orders, and coordinating work schedules with contractors.

- Undertaking procurement activities to secure best value for money for key waste and environmental services.
