Summary

JOB PURPOSE
As a carer for 1 Oak Group Limited (t/a 1 Oak Home Care) the main responsibility you have is to ensure that you provide care in accordance with the current best practice, according to policy and procedure, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the Registered Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE ORGANISATION:
• Develop effective working relationships with the other employees within 1 Oak.
• Support an open, positive and inclusive working culture.

• Minimise legal risks.

• Attend training activities, appraisal and development meetings,

RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN CARE SERVICES:
• Provide non-discriminatory care and support that recognizes the unique and diverse needs of each client.
• Following instructions in the support plan for each individual customer. This involves all aspects of care including, but not limited to;
• Support with personal care to include showering and bathing, dressing and grooming, toileting and continence care, teeth and dentures.
• Supporting the client with medication to include reminding, assisting and giving medication to ordering medication, collecting prescriptions and returning unwanted medications for safe disposal.
• Supporting with eating and drinking to include helping the customer to plan what to eat and drink, encouragement and help to eat and drink well, shopping, preparing and service good and drinks, clearing the table, washing up and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy, agreeing with the customer how to store food safely and dispose of out of date products.
• Safely using aids and personal equipment in a manner that respects the dignity of customers, including standing and walking frames, wheelchairs, manual and electric hoists, slide sheets, moving boards, hearing aids and other physical aids.
• Housework to include washing floors, vacuuming, sweeping, laundry, ironing, making beds including changing linen, dusting and general tidying.
• Supporting a client through temporary and terminal illness including hospital visits, end of life care, liaising with community health support and families.


RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN RECORDING AND REPORTING
• You are required to record and report all relevant customer information including; The care and support that you have provided and any assistance with medication, changes to a customer’s conditions or other concerns, faulty equipment or hazards in the client’s home, response to emergencies, accidents and incidents, safeguarding matters, contact with families, carers and other professionals and report any other matters within 1 Oak care policies.
• You are required to keep all information about customers and their families secure and confidential.
