Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term Specialist Doctor post in the Colorectal department based at Royal Derby Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician to play an integral part in the colorectal service, and delivery of outpatient clinics and day case operating. The successful post holder will be responsible for running independent colorectal 2ww clinics and colorectal and general surgery day case lists. They will be responsible for continuing care of patients seen in clinic, including any administration, and making ongoing arrangements for their treatment.

The post holder will be expected to independently run outpatient clinics and day case theatre lists as well as supporting the wider colorectal team with ward rounds, operating and MDT. Opportunity for endoscopy sessions will also be available.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration at the time of application, have MBBS and a higher degree, should be post CCT or within 6 months of completion, and have UK experience in Colorectal Surgery.

Experiencing of managing patients on a suspected cancer pathway and up to date colorectal knowledge are key.

Endoscopy experience is desirable however training and support is available.

1. Provide clinical activities as per timetable including outpatient clinics and day case sessions.



2. Provide clinical support to consultant in other clinics areas as per timetable



3. Responsibility for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge

& personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan.



4. Responsibility to carry out any work related to & reasonably incidental to

the duties set out in your Job Plan e.g. the keeping of records & the

provision of reports, the proper delegation of tasks, maintaining skill

knowledge.



5. You will be expected to work as part of a team with a responsibility to

maintain the highest standards of clinical care. Active participation in internal

supporting professional activities such as Departmental & Trust matters

concerning Clinical Governance & Audit is essential.



6. You will be expected to be flexible and co-operate with reasonable

requests to cover colleague’s leave and absences where they are safe &

competent & where it is practicable to do so



7. You will be involved inteaching and assessment of undergraduates and postgraduate doctors in training as directed.



8. You will be expected tocontribute to graduate & continuing medical education activity locally, regionally & nationally as appropriate & to participate in clinical audit under local arrangements (in light of relevant departmental guidance).



9. You will have responsibility, in your practice, for implementing Infection Control Policies as determined by University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
