About the role
This role is a fantastic opportunity to provide your financial expertise with a sense of purpose – supporting the essential services that keep our Wiltshire community safe.

You will be writing the Statement of Accounts for the force, interpreting and advising on changes in legislation and ensuring that changes are implemented which comply with legislation and regulations



What you will be doing

Supporting the Chief Finance Officer / Head of Finance in ensuring the statutory Annual Accounts are accurate by writing and completing them to a high professional standard
Producing the initial plan and the prioritisation of activities to achieve year-end.
Reviewing and interpreting statutory and legislative changes and providing advice on these to the PCC and Chief Constable.
Implement legislative or statutory changes where appropriate in line guidance and regulations
Being the Contact for Audit of the Accounts to ensure all necessary information is provided and the accounts get sign off by statutory deadlines by all relevant officials and committees
Ensuring the force is compliant with regard to current regulations and legislation
Produce accurate Financial Information on capital spend on a monthly basis in accordance with timescales
Record capital project spending and provide project transactional reporting to enable monitoring of capital projects

About you and your experience

Professional accounting qualification as a chartered accountant e.g. ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
Demonstrable experience of accounting Experience of applying Local Authority accounting practice
Experience in setting and monitoring budgets Experience in closing annual accounts
Experience of managing staff to include performance issues, sickness monitoring, appraisals, staff development, etc
Ability to effectively advise Senior Management and other staff on financial matters to enable effective decision making
