The role will work collaboratively across all areas of the TRA to enable effective decision-making, robust governance, consistent reporting and senior stakeholder engagement.

This is a key leadership role for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about establishing proportionate governance arrangements that drive performance and draw senior stakeholder attention to the leading risks and priorities.

This position is available either as a permanent appointment, or on secondment for existing civil/public servants. If applying on a secondment basis, you must have the support of your current employer. The secondment would be for an agreed fixed term of up to two years, with terms and conditions to be confirmed between the home and host organisation. The successful candidate will be the candidate who obtains the highest score at interview.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management: Identify, escalate, and manage risks and issues related to governance compliance and change reporting.
  • Governance Frameworks: Develop, maintain, and oversee a proportionate operational governance framework for the TRA, ensuring compliance with corporate, regulatory, and government standards.
  • Manage the Secretariat Teams: Ensure the Board and Executive Committee is well-planned and seamlessly delivered including meeting scheduling, forward planning, preparation of agenda, management of papers, minutes, actions and decisions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on governance, change and reporting matters.
  • Communications and Collaboration: Lead internal communication on governance activities; maintain accurate and accessible governance documentation using tools such as SharePoint and Teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and best practice in governance, exploring technologies such as AI to improve governance processes and board management.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a small team, coaching and developing team members to deliver high-quality governance, reporting and administrative support.
