Summary
We are now recruiting to an SPO/HOMD post in HMP Hindley. The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on Offender Management in Custody (OMiC).
The OMiC framework is a whole system approach and puts emphasis on the Offender Management Unit (OMU) being at the heart of the prison with information being shared inwards and outwards to improve safety, protect the public and reduce reoffending. To support this approach, it is vital for leaders in the OMU to have strong working relationships with others in the establishment, and with each other.
An SPO/HOMD is responsible for overseeing the quality of custodial sentence management activity in the prison and providing assurance through to the Governor.
An SPO/HOMD is part of the senior management team of the prison.
In Public Sector Prisons, the SPO/HOMD is responsible for the line management of all Prison Offender Managers and must ensure that they receive the support and development that they need and oversee the delivery of their work.
The SPO/HOMD leads on custodial sentence management across the prison with a focus on improving quality.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate their knowledge, ability, and resilience to offer sustained management and leadership in this complex and rapidly changing environment. The ability to deliver in a context of competing strategic and operational priorities is critical. The successful applicant will work alongside the HMP Head of Offender Management Unit (Services) and with the Governor and will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills, performance and change management and collaborative, partnership working with a range of stakeholders. The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a diverse team is important.
