East Lothian Council’s Planning Service have an exciting opportunity for a Landscape Projects Officer to work within our small and busy landscape team.
East Lothian is a beautiful and varied landscape stretching from the coastline to the north across the agricultural plain to the Lammermuir Hills to the south. It is also an area undergoing significant development. This is not your typical landscape architecture job. This varied role offers opportunity to provide wide-ranging landscape advice to the planning teams on landscape policy and planning applications to help manage this development whilst conserving and enhancing the environment. The team is also responsible for Tree Preservation Orders and trees in Conservation Areas and implementation of the Tree and Woodland Strategy for East Lothian. In addition, we undertake a landscape design service for other teams within the Council including new works and upgrades to school grounds, council buildings, open spaces and housing areas.
We would support applications from candidates who may have experience in only some of these topics but have a willingness to learn and take on other duties and advance your knowledge in our supportive and welcoming environment. Due to the varied nature of the role we would also be delighted to hear from enthusiastic applicants who feel they may be able to bring transferrable skills from different backgrounds. Applicants whose background is not in Landscape Architecture and who have Affiliate Membership of the Landscape Institute should be willing to commit to developing their career through the CMLI or TMLI pathway.
Based within the heart of the area at Haddington the role offers the potential for great work / life balance, with the flexibility of hybrid working. A great place to grow your career, develop your skills, and take on responsibility within a supportive environment.
Home / Hybrid Working Consideration
