Summary
About the role
We are looking for an experienced litigator to join our busy Litigation team. The post is fixed term for 12 months, 30 hours a week.
You will provide support to the Public Protection and Neighbourhoods directorate; encompassing Trading Standards, Environmental Health, Licensing and Community Safety.
Your caseload will predominantly consist of prosecutions, anti-social behaviour litigation and licensing; from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court, as well as a range of general litigation matters.
You will undertake advocacy in Courts, attend meetings/committees, provide advice to senior managers and officers and also assist with developing policy and procedures.
Salary: £43,693 - £47,754 (pro rata)
About you
The ideal candidate will have local government, prosecution and licensing experience with a willingness to assist on other areas within the team. Good interpersonal skills and an ability to plan and organise your own workload with minimal supervision are essential.
You must be able to work to tight court deadlines whilst fulfilling quality and service standards. You will be a strong team player, flexible, motivated, enthusiastic and committed.
You must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
Local authority experience is preferable however Rochdale Council will consider private practice and public sector candidates.
