Are you passionate about helping children who face barriers to learning? We're working with a dedicated Alternative Provision in the High Peak (SK23) area, and we're looking for a committed and flexible Primary Teaching Assistant to join the team.
This rewarding role involves supporting primary-aged pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours that prevent them from thriving in a mainstream school environment. You'll be part of a small, close-knit team making a genuine impact in pupils' academic and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Assist in managing behaviour and encouraging positive engagement in the classroom
- Support pupils during breaks and lunchtimes, ensuring safety and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver bespoke learning activities
- Participate in off-site visits and home support sessions to increase pupil engagement and meet wider needs
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with primary-aged children, especially those who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Flexibility to adapt to various situations and pupil needs
- Access to reliable transport for potential off-site work or home visits
