Summary

Job summary: To provide nursing services to patients of the Practice, including treatment, screening and advice within the professional competence of the post holder. The post holder will work in accordance with the NMC code of conduct. The post holder will be required to complete the return to nursing course and other various training courses as required. Primary duties and areas of responsibility: Child and adult vaccination & immunisations. Cervical screening, wound care, clip & suture removal, general nursing duties. Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed guidelines. Provide general and specific health assessments and screening to the Practice population (within agreed guidelines). Advise patients in general health care and minor ailments with referral to General Practitioners as necessary encompassing health promotion in all care. Maintain supplies and equipment use. Maintain accurate patient records, disease indices etc, and attend to necessary claim form documentation in accordance with NMC Guidelines. Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness - following appropriate training. Involvement in aspects of health management and promotion, either to individual patients or in clinics following agreed guidelines. To participate in team training sessions and meetings. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team. To participate in own appraisal and personal development plan. The duties of this post are wide-ranging and will require the post holder to be flexible in adapting to changing circumstances. Health & Safety: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards Reporting potential risks identified.
