Do you have good general maintenance and DIY skills, are you organised and can you take a logical approach to tasks? Do you enjoy dealing with members of the public? This could be the job for you.

Lewes Town Council is recruiting a Caretaker to carry out the day-to-day caretaking, cleaning, opening/locking up duties at the three Council venues: All Saints Centre, Malling Community Centre and Lewes Town Hall.

Caretakers are responsible for basic building and equipment maintenance, repair,
set-up and breakdown of events and functions, cleaning, stock monitoring, and assisting the Venue Managers where appropriate.

If you have experience in a similar role, if you’re reliable, hands-on and are comfortable working independently, have the ability to remain calm and act diplomatically when dealing with the public, have an understanding of how buildings work and are able to carry out minor repairs, then we’d love to hear from you. Please email recruitment@chrgs.co.uk attaching your CV. Upon receipt of your CV, you will be sent a full job description and asked to provide a short personal statement in support of your application.

Closing date for applications: 11pm on Sunday, 22 June 2025

Interviews will be held in July.

PLEASE NOTE - Applicants will be requested to provide the details of two employer references. The job offer will be subject to satisfactory references.
