Summary

Project Manager – Age Alive: Newport and District BME 50+ Network – Championing Diversity

Contract Type: 2-Year Fixed-Term* (Option to agree a 1-year contract with opportunity to renew)
Location: Hybrid – remote/home-based with in-person meetings as required

About Age Alive:
Age Alive is a volunteer-led, independent group supporting Black, Asian, Minority & Ethnic (BAME) individuals aged 50+ in Newport and District. We aim to develop members’ capacity and skills to better identify and address their own needs. We deliver a range of projects funded by external partners that benefit members and the wider community.

Role Summary:
We seek a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and patient Project Manager who understands and respects the diverse needs of our members. The role involves leading and managing multiple community projects, supporting beneficiaries, coordinating volunteers, and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead project delivery and report to the Committee
• Identify funding opportunities and complete quality applications on time
• Manage ongoing projects to ensure successful outcomes
• Create project plans in collaboration with Committee and stakeholders
• Monitor, review, and evaluate project progress, sharing updates with funders
• Maintain accurate records for support, performance, and evaluation
• Facilitate external/internal activities and liaise with members
• Support Committee with volunteer coordination and activity supervision
• Provide ongoing member support with awareness of safeguarding policies
• Represent the charity professionally and work independently on activities
• Deliver consistent, high-quality projects aligned with funder and policy requirements
• Update forms, policies, and procedures in line with GDPR

Digital & Communication Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update the charity’s digital presence (Facebook, WhatsApp, website)
• Ensure professional handling of confidential data and information
• Help develop Age Alive’s digital platforms and improve communications
• Monitor and respond to emails in a timely manner; relay key info to the Committee
• Support annual newsletter and reporting to share organisational activities

Administrative Duties:
• Coordinate group administration: activity layouts, daytrips, meeting minutes, AGM prep
• Complete tasks/projects to agreed standards and deadlines
• Collate data for reporting and assist with event planning and implementation
• Relieve trustees of duties, identify policy needs, recommend training, and suggest new group activities
• Fulfil any other duties assigned by the Committee
• Ensure full compliance with GDPR, including securing written consent for data use
