Summary

We are currently looking for a passionate casual Farm Ranger to join our team at the Foxburrows Farm. The National Lottery Heritage Funded, Hainault Forest Project, has restored the once vast medieval landscape of the Great Forest of Essex, creating a vastly improved visitor experience in the process. Within this funding has seen the development of the Foxburrows Farm creating a
sanctuary for animals with a brand-new barn and shelters.

As part of the Farm team, you will assist in the delivery of animal welfare and management programmes, maintenance of the built environment and grounds, to provide visitor support, and to assist in the provision of education and recreational events. The farm is currently home to Alpacas, Chickens, Donkeys, Ducks, Ferrets, Goats, Peacocks, Pigs, Rabbits, Sheep, Shetland Ponies, Heavy Horses. This collection of animals will be expanding as the farm continues to grow and improve.

Job requirements:

To undertake feeding, grooming, cleaning, and exercising of livestock where appropriate and to assist in the delivery of all aspects of animal husbandry operations in accordance with the agreed schedule.
To prepare animal feeds and supplements
To inspect and report on the physical condition of each animal and observe their behaviour.
To use a combination of physical and digital means to update and maintain animal records for health management and for mandatory recording where needed.
To transport Farm livestock to the veterinarian, abattoir, or animal dealers and or collect same.
To undertake cleaning of vehicles and equipment and loading / unloading of materials, equipment and livestock.
To use handheld mechanical and power tools to affect the maintenance of the Farm and Forest infrastructure and habitats.

Essential requirements:

To have an understanding of the regulations laid down in the animal welfare act 2006, the Local authority exhibition of animals & licence, and any other relevant legislation set by a statutory body.
Experience in Health and Safety legislation.
Experience in Animal care
To use park vehicles as required.
Experience of developing and delivering innovative events programmes and activity
Ability to work on a Rota system, to include working weekends
Ability to be available outside normal working hours, appropriate to work requirements
