Sector Head for Health – Role Overview

District Valuer Services (DVS) provide professional property advice across the public sector, including private and third sector clients involved in delivering public services and functions of a public nature. Our clients include the Central, Regional, Local and Devolved Government as well as Health, Transport & Infrastructure and the Environment.

As Sector Head of Health, the job holder will provide leadership to a national team of specialists and caseworkers and will co-ordinate and lead the sector across District Valuation Services (DVS). They will play an active role in both the DVS senior leadership team and the senior leadership community across the wider VOA.

Sector Head for Health – Key responsibilities

  • Providing strong leadership on operational delivery, and to contribute to the strategic objectives of the team, including embedding VOA vision and values.
  • Contribute to the wider running of the DVS Senior Management Team including leading on national projects, working parties and initiatives.
  • Sustaining and enhancing a national client development and engagement strategy for the Sector.
  • Maintaining and growing the client base and fee income within the Sector.
  • Monitor product types and identify and make decisions about future growth areas.
  • Co-ordinate and lead a national team of Sector Leaders in Health, including line management of some.
  • Oversee the delivery of work in line with clients’ requirements in the contract or framework on a full cost recovery basis.
  • Undertake discussions and negotiations on SLA’s and Contracts.
  • Provide strategic and high-level technical advice to the team.
  • Ensure quality assurance and timeliness standards are adhered to.
  • Maintain own complex caseload which will involve cross sector working.
  • Undertake succession planning and knowledge transfer of key roles within the team.
  • Effective management of risks and issues, escalation and litigation cases.
  • Offer advice on Agency policy implementation, including escalating key issues as part of the DVS Senior Management Team.
  • Ensuring an awareness of the wider political, economic, social, technical, environmental and legislative agendas that impact on the area of work.
  • Undertake, manage and deliver specific projects to be reported back to Senior Management Team.
  • Please note that this role may require some national travel, including overnight stays.
