It has a multimillion-pound annual budget, over 160 staff employed through the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) and the University of Leicester (UofL) and a portfolio of over 40 active trials.

LDC’s research portfolio investigates new models of care for the prevention and management of diabetes and associated long-term conditions, such as obesity. LDC are renowned for research harnessing the power of lifestyle behaviours, such as physical activity and nutrition, within the prevention and management of diabetes, including ongoing work investigating how lifestyle therapies can be used in synergy with pharmaceutical therapies to optimise whole body health.

The post is permanent post. To apply candidates, need to hold a valid GMC Registration and have at least 4 years post registration and experience in clinical research delivery. Ideally the post is for a full-time position, but part-time/job share will be considered.

LDC now has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and inspirational Clinical Research Physician ( SAS ) to join the LDC. This will include assessing participant eligibility against trial protocols, undertaking consent, medical examinations including exercise testing, muscle biopsies and assessment, reviewing clinical data and managing any adverse events and/or medical emergencies. It will also provide the opportunity to undergo supervised training and gain valuable experience in the development and implementation of patient and healthy volunteer-based research projects.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
