£37,083 to £40,941 per annum, inclusive of £2,859 per annum Distant Islands Allowance

An Assistant Harbour Master is sought in Balivanich to assist the Harbour Master in the delivery of services to users of Comhairle Pier facilities in maintaining a safe working environment through promotion of good housekeeping practices and policies that will ensure compliance with the Ports & Marine Facilities Code (PMSC) and other legislation relevant to Harbour operations. As Assistant Harbour Master you will assist and be involved in the day-to-day management issues of the Comhairle’s piers and harbours.

You must have extensive knowledge of the marine industry including navigation aids and port infrastructure and familiarity with and experience of working with safety management systems.

It is essential you have the ability to use Microsoft Office software, be able to present written information clearly and concisely and be able to complete Risk Assessments.

You must be certified to STCW 95 II/1 and have 5 years sea service OR another equivalent marine qualification with 5 years extensive experience in working within a marine environment.

A Driving Licence is essential for this post.

It is essential you are based within the Uist area as travel will be required between North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist and Eriskay

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression.
