The Role

Are you a capable and driven finance professional, with experience with Rent and Service Charges within the Social Housing sector?

If the answer is yes, then this is the position for you. Eastlight Community Homes is seeking our next Rent and Service Charge Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time, fixed-term basis!

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be providing support with the rent and service charges process, ensuring accurate calculations and correct coding of expenses, while meeting deadlines set by our tenancy agreements.

As Eastlight’s Rent & Service Charge Specialist, you will:

  • Take the lead in handling the service charge function and serve as a main point of contact for all leaseholder accounts and Eastlight properties with regards to such matters.
  • Oversee the rent and service charge computations at the end of the year, making sure that they are all done correctly, fairly, and by the deadlines.
  • Prepare leaseholders' income and expense reports and submit them to an external accountant for the service charge accounts' final audit and approval. Take the lead on leaseholder audits and address any issues that come up.
  • Communicate with all relevant parties, including internal departments, management firms, tenants, and suppliers, to address any concerns or questions about rent or service charges.
  • Establish leaseholder accounts are updated correctly by producing anticipated leaseholder service charges and calculating true expenditure adjustments.
