About the role

Are you passionate about teaching and inspiring others? We’re looking for a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to work with adult learners and help them achieve their goals. This role is perfect for someone who holds a Level 5 Numeracy Specialism Qualification and a Teaching Qualification at Level 3 or above (a Level 5 Teaching Qualification would be a big bonus!). Primary purpose

Your core responsibility as a Functional Skills Maths Tutor is to empower adult learners by delivering impactful lessons that help them achieve their qualifications in Maths. You will provide tailored teaching, clear guidance, and constructive feedback to support learners in reaching their personal and professional goals. You will ensure learners flourish on their educational journeys through engaging sessions and consistent support.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate practical and interactive Maths teaching sessions online via Zoom, ensuring learner engagement and progress.
- Assess learner starting points and develop personalised learning plans (ILPs) with clear and achievable targets to guide their progress.
- Provide constructive, detailed feedback on learner work and assessments to aid their development.
- Plan and deliver engaging induction sessions to prepare learners for their educational journeys.
- Monitor learner progress closely and address challenges with additional support as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, compliant learning records using the CRM system (Zoho CRM), ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Uphold safeguarding, Prevent, and health and safety standards in every aspect of your role.
- Design and adapt teaching resources to suit diverse learner needs, including those with additional challenges.
- Contribute to continuously improving curriculum content to ensure relevance and alignment with learner needs.
- Participate in CPD activities, team meetings, and quality assurance processes to maintain professional standards.

Skills and qualifications

Essential

- Numeracy Specialism Qualification - Level 5.
- Teaching Qualification - Level 3 or above.
- Proven track record of delivering adult education programmes successfully.
- Experience providing effective online and virtual classroom teaching.
- ICT qualification (minimum Level 2).
- Strong organisational, communication, and time management skills.
- Solid understanding of safeguarding, GDPR, health and safety, and compliance requirements.

Highly Desirable

- Teaching Qualification - Level 5.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills in Maths to adult learners.
- Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) qualification at Level 2 or above.
- Customer service experience or qualification.
