Summary

As an Apprentice HGV Technician you will:
Be eager and willing to be enrolled on the following Level 3 Apprenticeship Course ‘Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Heavy)’ which runs for a period of 3 years.
Upon successful completion of the above apprenticeship course and the successful postholder obtaining their LGV/Cat C Driving Licence there will be the opportunity to join the established fleet team in becoming a competent Vehicle Technician where you will receive a Grade E salary which presents a fantastic progression opportunity for the successful candidate.
Learn the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of a wide range of vehicles and associated operational equipment, ensuring all work is completed to the required standard.
What makes you our ideal Apprentice HGV Technician:
You will have good communication skills and a positive attitude to internal/external customer care.
You will have reading and writing skills to assist you in the completion of the apprenticeship programme.
You will have the ability to undertake short periods of physical exertion working in cramped conditions and occasionally in all weathers to accomplish repairs. You will also ideally have experience in using hand tools.

Other Information:
You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available. Please note Service vehicles are manual transmission only.
Travel requirements will include travelling to and from college in Bournemouth to complete your apprenticeship, travelling to attend in house mandatory job-related training and when required travelling across the two Counties of the Service to provide support.
You must be willing to provide any other information required for the training provider to ensure you meet the entry criteria and confirm you are eligible for the apprenticeship. Please note if you are qualified in Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Heavy) Level 3 then you will not be eligible to apply for this role.
A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre-employment checks which include identity checks, right to work in the UK, medical, negative drug test, receipt of satisfactory references, verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.
Upon appointment you will be required to adhere to the requirements of a Health Surveillance Programme and attend an Occupational health appointment for baseline readings.
