Summary

The MCA IT Delivery Management function enables the organisation to deliver world class services. They are responsible for the direction and management of IT portfolios, programmes, and projects, ensuring value for money /*StartFragment */through optimal procurements and aligning delivery with government policy and organisational objectives.

The Business Analysis team within IT Delivery Management is integral in providing analytical support for project decision-making. They collect and analyse business requirements, ensuring alignment with project goals and stakeholder needs.

The MCA implements the government’s maritime safety policy in the United Kingdom and works to prevent the loss of life and occurrence of pollution on the coast and at sea.

As the Lead Business Analyst, this role will be responsible for complex and high-profile business analysis to enable problem solving and quality business delivery. Creating, and fostering strategic stakeholder relationships across the MCA, wider Civil Service/Department for Transport (DfT), and Suppliers. Embedding a culture and community for business analysis throughout the organisation, delivering high standards and quality commercial outputs.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Manage strategic stakeholder relationships across the MCA and wider DfT/Civil Service.
  • Lead the development of the business analysis community by sharing best practice and mentoring others.
  • Take responsibility for articulating complex and high-profile business problems to ensure effective business delivery through impactful commercial arrangements.
  • Undertake complex or high-profile research and analysis to understand how a business or business area works, considering the people, procurement, policy constraints, organisation, current/future strategic direction, processes, information, risk management, data and technology.
  • Provide expert challenge to business areas on problems and solutions, considering value for money, sustainability, and alignment to strategy and business plans.
