Summary


South East London Trainee Newborn Hearing Screeners

We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic and committed Qualified Newborn Hearing Screeners through passing the OSCE pre April 2017 , ECA (External Competency Assessment),, OSCE and the HSD Level 3 Diploma. The SEL NHSP team is part of Paediatric Audiology Service in the community arm of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust.

Our screener posts are based in five maternity units in South East London Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Hospitals but will to be able to cover across the 5 Hospitals and the 7 outpatient clinics when needed.

Band 4 Newborn Hearing screeners full time position available to be based at: PRUH- Princess royal University Hospital -Bromley and Kings College Hospital Southwark. ( to work across the sites).

Part time will also be considered.

This is a 7-day service so weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required on a rota basis.

The NHSP aims to screen the hearing of all newborn babies to enable the identification of children with permanent hearing impairment as early as possible. Covering the South-East London boroughs, this is one of the largest NHSP sites in the country, with approximately 26,000 births annually.

It is an outstanding opportunity to work within a team which is part of a highly successful major national screening programme.

In response to a national initiative to screen all newborn babies hearing, we are seeking to recruit an organised, methodical, caring and empathetic person to join our existing screening team. You will have responsibility for screening newborn babies in a family-friendly way, following the national NHSP screening protocols. You will be required to perform the screen, record and collect data, and liaise with parents and health professionals. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as some computer skills.
