Summary
Our client based in Newbury is looking to recruit a SMT Machine Operator to join their busy facility.
The SMT Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining SMT production machinery, ensuring the accurate placement of components onto PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards). The successful candidate will have a strong eye for detail, technical aptitude, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate SMT machines including pick-and-place, stencil printers, and
reflow ovens.
• Load feeders and components according to Bill of Materials (BOM) and job
requirements.
• Monitor production runs to ensure consistent quality and adherence to
specifications.
• Perform in-process inspections to identify and correct misfeeds, misplacements, or
solder defects.
• Conduct basic machine maintenance and report any technical issues.
• Complete all relevant production documentation and logs.
• Collaborate with the engineering and QA teams to support process improvements.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
• Previous experience operating SMT machinery in an electronics manufacturing
environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and BOMs.
• Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610).
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Basic computer skills for machine programming and data input.
Desirable:
• Experience with specific SMT platforms (e.g., Fuji, Juki, Yamaha, Mydata).
• Knowledge of AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
• IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 Certification.
