We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a talented and committed Safeguarding & Welfare Officer to join our Student Services department. This role presents a unique chance to play a pivotal part in safeguarding the safety, wellbeing, and protection of our students. Working collaboratively with the safeguarding team, the successful candidate will provide tailored support to students navigating welfare or safeguarding concerns. Key responsibilities include implementing safeguarding policies, addressing incidents promptly, and fostering a secure and supportive environment that complies with organisational and legal safeguarding standards, all while contributing to the vibrancy of our thriving academic community.

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Safeguarding & Welfare Officer, you will:
Monitor and review the attendance and progress of a caseload of students in identified vulnerable groups and 'At Risk' of not achieving for a variety of reasons e.g. vulnerable young person cohort (VYP), those with safeguarding and welfare issues and those with mental health needs.
Ensure all VYP students are supported through application, enrolment and induction and that they access all the financial support available as early as possible.
Be member of the College's Safeguarding Team as a Safeguarding Officer and deputise for the Designated Safeguarding Leads as and when required.
Be first response to referrals regarding students' welfare and safeguarding issues, including bullying and harassment, and liaise with curriculum areas and external agencies as required if referrals are needed.
Be the first point of contact where mental health issues are suspected and co-ordinate a response including outside agencies and referral as appropriate.
Contribute to the disclosure of convictions and the risk assessment process in conjunction with the Student Support Services Manager.

What We’re Looking For:
We seek candidates who:
Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.
Have a Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
Are committed to undertaking any mandatory training required for the role.
Possess a Mental Health qualification - Desirable.
Have experience in working with and supporting vulnerable young people, including handling difficult and sensitive issues.
