Summary
Main Responsibilities As part of the clinical support team, the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care by working under the supervision of the nursing team. You will contribute to the care of patients through a variety of clinical and administrative duties, depending on your level of training and competence. You will: Perform new patient health checks and long-term condition reviews Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, and oxygen saturation Support the clinical team during minor procedures Carry out ECGs, wound care, and routine dressing changes Assist with health promotion and lifestyle advice Undertake venepuncture and administer flu/COVID vaccinations (following training) Support chronic disease management clinics Act as a chaperone when required Ensure clinical areas are clean, stocked, and safe Handle specimens and documentation appropriately Maintain accurate patient records using EMIS clinical system Secondary Responsibilities You may also be asked to: Participate in practice audits and learning events Support shared learning within the team Assist with opening/closing duties when required Support reception/admin tasks if needed during busy periods
