Summary
We have an exciting Band 5 Theatre Practitioner opportunity which has come available within our Operating department at Moorfields Eye Hospital - City Road.
The successful candidates will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, demonstrates good leadership, and be committed to the delivery of high-quality care within all areas of the ophthalmic theatre.
The successful candidates will hold the appropriate qualifications to be a currently registered practitioner (RGN/ODP) and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, and provision of specialist ophthalmic nursing advice and carries out specialist nursing procedures in scrub as well as providing care and support in the clinical setting as part of the perioperative pathway.

The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes with direct supervision.
As a Theatre Practitioner you will be working in a close-knit and diverse team ensuring patients are cared for during a daunting time.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, are needed throughout the perioperative experience to educate patients undergoing surgery and so ease their anxiety. In addition, good communication with theatre colleagues, the multidisciplinary team, and other departments is vital to achieving technical excellence as a scrub nurse to support the physician during surgery.

The post holder will work closely with the senior staff and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.
As a member of the theatre team perform the tasks of scrub practitioner following all checks and procedures as laid down in National / Theatre Policy.
As a member of the theatre team perform the tasks of scrub practitioner and support other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant documentation without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures in place to support safe patient care
To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training.
