Summary
To provide day to day clinical care of the stroke patients in HASU and ASU. To take part in daily ward rounds and MDT meetings. To assist with the TIA clinics and the triage/assessment of newly admitted patients. To supervise and support the ward residents assigned to the HASU and ASU team. To gain experience in stroke rehabilitation, goal setting and working with the wider MDT team To undertake any specific clinical and related responsibilities delegated to them by consultant neurologists and stroke physicians. To teach junior doctors, undergraduate medical students, nursing and other paraclinical staff. To record relevant clinical details and maintain accurate case notes for patients admitted under the care of his/her firm. To summarise clinical findings on presentation of all emergency patients admitted when on-call. To prepare discharge summaries promptly on discharge. To deal with outpatient and other correspondence in an appropriate and timely manner. To participate in national and local audit. Participation in the weekend and Bank Holiday 8am-8pm HASU stroke cover as part of the StR rota (Sat and Sunday, bank Holidays) throughout the 12 months involving TIA clinic cover, assessment of hyperacute stroke admissions and participation in the weekend ward round. Currently this is 1:5 with compensatory time off during the week.
