Summary


Are you an excellent communicator who enjoys working with people? We are looking for anEngagement Support Officer to join the Strategic Planning and Equalities team. This is a varied and busy role which combines communication and engagement activities with admin duties to support our Trust's strategic priorities.

You will play a key role this year in running a wide range of engagement activities with service users, carers and community members as we refresh our 5 year Trust Strategy. You will also work with service users, carers, community members and staff on the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) and Trust Anti-Racism action plan.

We are looking for someone with experience of designing engaging content in different formats, as well as strong administrative experience and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.

Engagement duties
• Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).
• Build relationships with community members, patients, carers and colleagues and support them to participate in engagement activities
• Design and support delivery of engagement events and promotional campaigns for staff groups, community members and service users and carers

Website/intranet/digital and social media communication
• Manage internal communications and engagement for agreed programmes
• Design programme content that is exciting, relevant and engaging for all stakeholders and audiences, such as posters, leaflets and videos

Administrative duties
• Monitor and respond to email and other digital enquiries
• Support the administration of meetings including taking minutes and maintaining associated records for a variety of workstreams, e.g. attendees lists, feedback and action logs
• Develop and maintain mailing lists with accuracy and in line with data protection requirements

This role is based at Maudsley Hospital

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range restaurants.

The Engagement Support Officer will report to the Engagement and Stakeholder Manager and play an important role in a small team delivering a wide range of engagement activities with external and internal stakeholders.

They will support a programme of public engagement activities relating to the Trust’s 5 year strategy, which will be refreshed over the next year. This will include organising events and focus groups, preparing communication materials and providing administrative support to planning meetings.

The Engagement Support Officer also plays an important role in supporting the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) programme, which seeks to improve the access, experience and outcomes of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities accessing mental health support at the Trust. This post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Trust from various professional backgrounds and with service users, carers and diverse communities in Lambeth, Southwark, Croydon and Lewisham.

Skills and qualities sought for this role include: excellent organisation skills, attention to detail, clear and prompt communication skills including written, proficient in Microsoft Office packages, social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc), design programmes and online software (Canva, slido, Jamboard, survey monkey, Eventbrite etc). The post holder must be able to work in a pressurised environment, managing multiple tasks, problem solving and be used to working to tight deadlines. Having a personable manner and confidence to work with people from diverse backgrounds is essential.

This role involves substantial work with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (global majority) communities in Lambeth, Southwark, Croydon and Lewisham – personal insight of these communities would be advantageous for taking on this role.

Recruitment process
