Summary


We are seeking an energetic, motivated and passionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) who is dedicated to implementing and further developing high quality evidence informed Occupational Therapy in the specialist outpatient Skeletal Dysplasia Service.

This exciting new post will be supported by an experienced Band 7 and be based in the paediatric OT team at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, St Thomas' Hospital site.

There may also be potential for the post to evolve into a substantive role.

This nationally and internationally visible service has undergone significant expansion and is the leading centre in the United Kingdom for children with skeletal dysplasia, which includes achondroplasia. Many of the children will have short stature and may present with additional medical and/or neurodevelopmental conditions resulting in challenges developing their independence in their daily occupations.



The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in clinics. The post holder will provide consultation and advice across all domains of occupation, supporting children and young people (0-16 years), with a skeletal dysplasia to develop independence in areas of self-care, school, work and leisure/play alongside their families and local teams. The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as the role will involve close liaison and partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and community colleagues in health, education and other appropriate agencies.

· Individual supervision will be undertaken withthe Band 7 Occupational Therapist in the Skeletal Dysplasia team. Youwill be professionally managedby a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist working within the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team.
• To provide a specialist level Occupational Therapy Service to a specialist caseload ofchildren in the Evelina London Skeletal Dysplasia service and related services as required.


• To provide a specialist Occupational Therapy Service to a caseloadusing advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments using a client centred approach.



· To develop positive and collaborative working relationships across hospital and community services and deliver networked care with your counterparts.
• To support clinical Occupational Therapy developments, audit and research within Children’s Services and related Trust wide projects as they relate to your field of practice.



· To be responsible for the maintenance and development of your CPD and continuous learning.

· To supervise and develop Occupational Therapy assistants.

To be responsible for the education of Occupational Therapy Students on Fieldwork Practice.
