We are looking a Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.

This role sits in Projects & Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a senior position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the delivery of projects as the Client project manager, or accountability as project executive. You will manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design, into construction and handover. You will mentor and coach project team members, flexing your involvement to suit team strength.

You will build a great working environment with high performing teams including our suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, and partners. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management, you will establish effective relationships, facilitating collaborative and efficient ways of working. You will make key project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.

The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners, and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding is crucial.

The role will require regular travel to project sites and project team meetings in other Agency and Supply Partner offices.

The team
The PCM-Midland’s hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing approximately 80 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers and Project Team Managers (PTM). Each PTM manages 8-15 Project Executives, Project Managers and Project Support Officers who manage the day-to-day delivery of projects within our flood & coastal erosion risk management programme using our framework suppliers. Other internal roles forming part of our integrated delivery teams include commercial, environmental, asset managers, financial, estates, and legal.
Experience/skills required
• A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline. Ideally with chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP.

• High level of experience of project and/or contract management desirable.

• Technical expertise covering feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.

• Extensive experience in a programme management, project delivery and contract management, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.

• Project Executive role experience would be beneficial
