Summary
An AC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. The role requires technical expertise in diagnosing system issues, ensuring optimal operation, and providing customer service throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair various types of air conditioning systems and related equipment.
Inspect and diagnose issues in AC units, including electrical and mechanical faults.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure system efficiency and longevity.
Replace or repair damaged components, such as compressors, motors, and coils.
Clean, adjust, and service AC systems, including condenser and evaporator coils.
Provide estimates for repair work and required parts.
Ensure compliance with safety, industry, and environmental standards.
Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Communicate effectively with clients, explaining system issues and recommended solutions.
Respond to emergency service calls and perform prompt repairs as needed.
Keep up-to-date with industry standards and technological advancements in HVAC systems.
Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited HVAC or air conditioning program.
Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA 608 for refrigerant handling).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HVAC or air conditioning systems.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and customer service abilities.
Physical ability to perform manual tasks, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
Valid driver’s license.
Technical knowledge of HVAC systems, including the ability to read wiring diagrams and interpret technical data.
Desirable Attributes
Manual dexterity and proficiency with power and hand tools.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Experience in both residential and commercial AC systems.
Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
Typical Work Environment
