Summary

The Best Connection Oxford are looking for a Class 1 HGV Tramper Driver for our client based in Abingdon!

Salary: Starting at £16.50 per hour
Expected Hours: 45 hours per week + overtime opportunities at time and a half!

The Role

Due to continued expansion of our established client, we are actively seeking HGV Class 1 Tramping driver to join our client’s operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting Mats and Plant machinery safely and efficiently across various routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to handle flatbed deliveries. As a Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of service.

As you will be delivering to client sites, you must have effective customer service skills and be able to conduct yourself with the utmost professionalism.

Key Responsibilities: Operate lorries to transport goods and Plant to designated locations. Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation as required. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Assist in the maintenance of the vehicle by reporting any issues or concerns promptly. What we’re looking for: Proven experience with tramping or in a similar role is preferred. Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting skills. Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with local roads and routes. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills. A commitment to providing exceptional customer service during all interactions. Ability to follow exact direction. Able to maintain accurate paperwork/electronic records. Must be able to adhere to all Health and Safety procedures and rules. Must have good interpersonal skills required to work in a team environment. Ability to work a flexible schedule (day, night, occasional weekends). Must be able to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check and drug/alcohol screen/physical. Reliable and trustworthy, good timekeeper, able to use their own initiative and highly motivated. Experience of Wagon & Drag is desirable. CSCS card desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Full training will be provided, with development opportunities and ability to progress within the company.

Requirements: Valid CPC License HGV Class 1 licence, must be comfortable with securing loads and plant using ratchet straps.
