What's involved with this role:

Job Title: Billing and Collection Administration Officer

Ref: Brent 5268992

Pay rate: £18.07 per hour PAYE

A Basic DBS is required for this role.

This is a hybrid role. You will be expected to work on site at least one day during the week.

The role:

We’re looking for a sharp, customer-focused specialist to ensure Council Tax, Business Rates, Adult Social Care Debt, Parking & Road Traffic fines, Sundry Debt, and Housing Benefit Overpayments are billed, collected and recovered in accordance with prevailing legislation, case law, local policy and procedures.

Billing activities involve identifying liable parties and service details, assessing discounts and refunds, maintaining accurate billing and invoice records, and managing revenue and debt databases.

Key responsibilities:

Resolve customer and stakeholder queries with confidence and clarity, ensuring excellent service while maximising collection and recovery of outstanding liabilities
Process debts through the recovery process efficiently, balancing the needs of individual customers with the Council’s financial goals
Work within the law and Council standards to deliver top-notch service every time



What the client is looking for:

Proficient in Maths & English
Experience in delivering customer-focused advice, handling enquiries, transactions, and complaints across multiple channels (face-to-face, phone, post, and online) in a high-demand environment.
A broad understanding of Council Tax and Debt recovery
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word packages and the ability to effectively use a range of IT systems and applications
