Summary
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust currently has a vacancy within Adult Cardiac Surgery for 1 Trust Doctor (Grade ST6-8+) post based at the Leeds General Infirmary for 12 months from the date of appointment. The appointee would be expected to take part in 1:8 after hours registrar level rota, covering adult cardiac surgical services, with active clinical commitment towards adult cardiac surgery in theatre, outpatient clinics, ICU and the wards. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is the largest NHS Trust in the UK and is the Regional Centre for Cardiothoracic Surgery. The Yorkshire Heart Centre is based at Leeds General Infirmary and serves the population of West Yorkshire. The adult unit has the capacity to perform approximately 1000 open heart operations per year. It has two theatres, 12 ITU beds and one dedicated cardiac surgical ward. The hospital has a busy Accident and Emergency department and an active interventional cardiology programme including TAVI. The Trust has a well-stocked library and there is access to the Universitys library as well. Cardiac surgery offers a busy teaching and training schedule.
