The Role - English Graduate Teaching Assistant
· Supporting pupils in KS3 and KS4 English, with a focus on developing literacy, writing, and comprehension skills
· Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions, targeting underachieving or EAL learners
· Assisting the English department with lesson preparation, marking and classroom organisation
· Covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher (work will be pre-set), maintaining positive behaviour and keeping students engaged
· Helping to create a stimulating, inclusive learning environment for all pupils
· Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to support individual student needs
English Graduate Teaching Assistant requirements:
· A recent English Literature or English Language graduate (2:1 or above preferred)
· GCSE and A Levels in English Language and English Literature (essential)
· Confident, enthusiastic, and passionate about education and student progress
· Interested in pursuing a career in teaching - ideal for someone considering a PGCE or SCITT
· Experience working with young people in any setting (schools, tutoring, youth work etc.) is a bonus
· A good communicator, with strong literacy and a professional attitude
· Able to commit full-time (Monday to Friday) for the academic year
