Summary

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Location: Woodcock Dell, Kenton

Salary: £18 per hour / £33,805 per annum

Hours: 36 hours per week, covering shifts across 7 days


About you:
We're seeking a flexible and experienced Assistant Manager to join our friendly team at our Woodcock Dell residential home and assist the Home Manager in the day to day running of the home for Adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities and other needs. You'll lead the team in delivering a person-centred service through Active Support, with a commitment to Lifelong Learning and independence for all. This is a full time role where you'll be expected to work on a flexible rota of week days and weekends (5 days per week, day shifts, to include alternative weekends, typically 9am-4pm or 9am-5pm).

You'll be a great communicator, work well within a team and have strong time management and leadership skills. About the role:
• To oversee the delivery of care and support within the home and make sure that the quality of service and the support provided meets and exceeds all the requirements of the Essential Standards for Quality and Safety.

• To ensure that each person living in the home is given information and advice in an accessible way that enables them to make informed decisions about their care and support.

• To lead, coach and mentor support workers to ensure that each person living in the home receives personalised support which is dignified, flexible, appropriate to their needs and promotes their rights and responsibilities.

• To take the lead in ensuring that the care and support provided is person-centred, adopting the principles of Active Support enabling Lifelong Learning for every person living within the home.

• To ensure that Person Centred Plans, Individual Learning Plans and strategies are developed that promote and support active citizenship within the local and wider community and maximise choice and independence



About Woodcock Dell:
This purpose-built property supports up to eight residents with profound & multiple neurodevelopmental disabilities. It is a safe and secure gated property with an internal lift, en-suite facilities, sensory room, comfortable lounge, modern kitchen, dining room and a well maintained garden for residents to enjoy. It is conveniently located close to the town centre which has shops and local amenities with easy access to public transport. Free parking is available around the location.

We support people with an age range of 29 – 70. They have neurodevelopmental disabilities including as autism, physical support needs including cerebral palsy and health needs such as epilepsy.

The residents are non-verbal in their communication. They communicate by using objects of reference, intensive interaction and Makaton. Most of the residents are wheelchair users.

Essential:
Ability to work on a flexible rota of week days and weekends (5 days per week, day shifts, to include alternative weekends, typically 9am-4pm or 9am-5pm)
Can carry out moving & handling tasks - we support 6 wheelchair users
Is fully IT literate and can confidently complete administrative tasks
Has experience of supporting Learning and Physical disabilities as well as complex health conditions such as PEG feeding, Stoma care and epilepsy
Willingness to work towards QCF Level 3 (NVQ 3)
Experience working in a residential setting including supervisory responsibilities
Knowledge of person centred approaches, care and support planning and risk assessments
Effective communicator with people management skills and excellent time management
Ability to anticipate and identify potential gaps in service and take appropriate action
