This will include learning use of specialist tools, installation skills, programming panels, learning interfacing, fault finding and basic electronics. This job has a good mix of working alone or with other engineers, at a variety of properties in the home counties.
As your abilities progress during the twelve months, you will be sent on a number of training courses to gain relevant qualifications, at the company's expense. These are run by our industry associations, equipment manufacturers, or at the Fire Service College. The qualifications expected to be gained during the 12 months include Fire Alarm System Design, Fire Alarm System Maintenance, Emergency Lighting & training at various system manufacturers.
The job brings lots of variety, with different sites being visited every day. A typical day starts at 9am at our office, where the engineers are given their tasks for the day. The engineers may be working alone or in pairs, depending on the tasks booked. During the traineeship, you will always be with a qualified engineer, until you are ready to carry out some of the tasks on your own.
A full, clean UK driving license is required as we will be issuing you with a company van, fuel card & breakdown cover. A DBS check will be undertaken because some of our sites have vulnerable people (schools, carehomes, etc). You will be issued with all necessary tools, laptop and uniform. £10/month is given towards your mobile phone costs.
