Summary

A Vacancy at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

We are inviting applications in the Emergency Medicine Department at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust for Trust doctors at Registrar.

The role will be an entirely clinical role at middle grade level within the department and the successful candidate will work with the current team in supporting and developing the department. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is heavily invested in providing an excellent Urgent and Emergency Care system for our population. We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic doctors to provide care in the Emergency Departments and/or our Urgent SDEC (uSDEC)

The Emergency Departments at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary are currently led by 23 consultants who work across both sites providing 16hr shop-floor cover 7 days a week at both sites and on-call cover beyond that. Specialty Doctors, Higher Specialty Trainees and ST3+ grade doctors provide 24 hour shop-floor cover at both sites.

There is a consultant led Trauma Team at Huddersfield, which has been designated as a Major Trauma Unit in the West Yorkshire Regional Trauma Network. Both Huddersfield and Calderdale have 4 resuscitation bays, including a dedicated paediatric resus area, with X-ray and ultrasound facilities. There are separate majors and minors areas with a play-room available for Families with Younger Children in both departments.

Successful candidates will be involved in the design and delivery of these exciting new additions to regional Emergency Services. As a speciality doctor in the ED we are dedicated to developing you and your interests. Depending on your interests and performance we have various programs we can support including entry on to our CESR program (from which previous candidates have been appointed as consultants)

We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

We provide a range of services including urgent and emergency care; medical; surgical; maternity; gynaecology; critical care; children’s and young people’s services; end of life care and outpatient and diagnostic imaging services.

We provide community health services, including sexual health services in Calderdale from Calderdale Royal and local health centres. These include Todmorden Health Centre and Broad Street Plaza.

We continue to modernise and invest in our health services to build on our strong reputation. Foundation trusts are public leaders in improving quality in health services. They are part of the NHS – yet decisions about what they do and how they do it are driven by independent boards. Boards listen to their Council of Governors and respond to the needs of their members – patients, staff and the local community.

Foundation trusts provide what the health service wants, yet are also free to invest quickly in the changes to the local community needs, in striving to be the best, and in putting their patients first.
