Summary
The Plant Health Forestry team (PHF) is a high performing geographically distributed team with staff responsible for delivery across GB.
The aims of the Oak Processionary Moth management programme are:
- Limit the rate of spread and reduce the impact of Oak Processionary Moth on tree, human and animal health.
- Robustly deal with new findings to prevent the development of a new outbreak hotspot in the area free from the pest.
- Maintain the range of management activities (survey, control and communications).
- Provide an operational ‘test and development’ function to build knowledge and evidence relating to this pest.
- Continue building a partnership approach, including integration of landowner/manager expertise in dealing with Oak Processionary Moth.

The focus of the job will be to handle enquires (email/telephone) and maintain data for the Oak Processionary Moth control programme. This is achieved by ensuring appropriate procedures are followed and relevant Forestry Commission standards are met. This will also involve working closely with and providing administrative support for the Oak Processionary Moth programme manager and support officers.
Key Work Areas including:
Administrative Support
- Answering enquires for the Oak Processionary Moth control programme- emails and phone calls.
- Accurately record information and data to be entered into the Oak Processionary Moth database.
- Maintain a log of all enquires for review on a regular basis for reporting purposes.
- Work in conjunction with other team members to maintain accurate records so they are consolidated and easily interpreted.
- If required, support other administrative roles in the wider tree health programme.
- Travel is not integral to the role; however support at events may require occasional, and infrequent, time away from home.
General Administrative Support
- Provide a central point of contact for the Oak Processionary Moth control programme.
- Data gathering, processing, and cleansing.
- Maintain contacts list.
- Circulate updates.
Handling Public Enquiries
- Deal with public and staff enquiries appropriately.
- Log enquiries for reporting purposes and gather information to update log -Be available to handle stakeholder enquiries.
