An exciting opportunity has arisen foran enthusiasticdietitian to join our friendly and supportive teambased at Furness General Hospital.Thevacancy is open toexperienced Dietitianswishing to expand their skills.
The post holder will work independently as an autonomous practitionerprovidingflexible and patient centred care.
Provides support in the specified clinical area(s) withspecialist knowledge,skillsand experience to advise and support staff on managing complex clinical issues for the Dietetic site service and at the other Dietetic sites asrequired.
The post holder will take responsibility for the management of their own caseload without direct supervision, whilst continuing to develop specialist clinical skills, knowledge and experience asidentifiedin the post holder’sAppraisal and Development Review (ADR).
The successful applicant will work as part of a small team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical,orthopaedics,oncologyand stroke management as well as outpatient clinics. As such, you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteralfeedingandgastroenterology.
Opportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areaswill be supported whereappropriate.
The department isapproved for training both ‘2’ and ‘3’ placementdieteticstudents. We haveexcellent IT facilities andarecommitted to personal development and training.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
