Summary
About the role
This role supports the provision of palliative care to children, young people and families living with a life limited condition in their homes across West Sussex and South East Hampshire. Palliative care includes the provision of respite breaks, enabling children opportunities to have fun and make memories ‘adding life to shortened years. You will provide high quality, holistic, family centred and compassionate care whilst meeting the complex clinical needs of the children in our care. Care can be provided in CYP’s homes, fun days out in the community or bringing the CYP to the hospice for community day care. The hospice delivers end of life care to a small number of children, working with specialist teams providing training and advice to manage children’s symptoms effectively.
Essential criteria
Education and Qualitifications
- RNC or RN Adult or RN LD registration
- 1 year post qualification
Experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families and professionals
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to present information written and orally in a clear and logical manner.
- Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures.
- Time management and organisational skills
- Competent IT skills
- Willingness to travel across the county and visits to the hospice in Arundel
- Willingness to drive Chestnut Tree House vehicles and transport CYP
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Teaching and mentorship qualification
- IV competency
- Experience of working with CYP with complex needs.
- Evidence of a range of clinical competencies
- Experience of working in a palliative care setting
- Experience of working in a community setting
