Summary
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage complex building control functions, ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated legislation. The role supports the delivery of safe, sustainable, and high-quality buildings across the North Northamptonshire area through expert technical advice, plan assessment, and site inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess complex and high-risk building regulation applications, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
• Carry out inspections of building work on-site to ensure standards of health, safety, energy efficiency, and accessibility are met.
• Provide technical leadership and support to the Building Control team.
• Act as a key point of contact for developers, architects, and the public, offering professional advice and resolving complex compliance issues.
• Represent the Council at appeals, enforcement proceedings, and public meetings where necessary.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and commercial development of the Building Control service.
Essential Requirements:
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, or a related discipline.
• Full membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS, CABE, CIOB).
• Extensive knowledge of current building regulations and associated legislation.
• Proven experience in handling complex construction projects and leading technical teams.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Working Hours:
Full-time, typically Monday to Friday, with flexibility for site visits and urgent issues.
