As Head of National Border Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing key activities to ensure the smooth running of border operations. You will be working closely with Ministers, senior officials, and key external stakeholders such as: trade partners, port authorities, operators, and border agencies to ensure successful operations and continuous improvement of the end-to-end customer experience.
The Head of National Border Operations will lead APHA’s work in the following areas:
- Issue resolution and oversight of border incidents – point of coordination and escalation for border issues, best practice for Border Control Posts (BCPs) and play a key role in managing the response to incidents at the border.
- Delivery partner engagement – promote effective performance of delivery partners and constructive dialogue with port stakeholders.
- Border operations - lead on work with Other Government departments on the operations and continuous improvement of the end-to-end border journey for trade.
- Assurance and designation activities – provision of assurance processing around BCP assurance, co-ordinating the designation process and acting as point of escalation for BCP audits.
- Common User Charge (CUC) – ensuring the ongoing delivery of the CUC and redress processes.
- Comms and engagement – delivering high quality communications in relation to all border operations, and representing the department and supporting ministers in engagement with a wide range of external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will Participate in an on-call rota, which is a requirement of the role eligible for an allowance.
