Summary
To operate refuse collection vehicles and lead a crew in the safe, efficient, and effective collection of households, recycling, commercial, and garden waste across the Borough, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and delivering high-quality service to residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.
• Supervise and support crew members during daily collection rounds.
• Carry out routine vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure waste is collected in accordance with set routes, schedules, and Council standards.
• Communicate courteously with the public and represent the Council in a professional manner.
• Comply with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Essential Requirements:
• Full UK Category C driving licence (HGV Class 2).
• Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Experience in refuse collection or similar driving roles.
• Good communication and team leadership skills.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of service.
Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or bank holiday working as required. Higher rate of pay for working Saturday, Sunday, Bank Holiday and Overtime.
