Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Job Purpose

To support the School Business Manager in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the school’s finance, administration, HR, and premises functions. This demanding role is vital in enabling the school to operate smoothly and meet its educational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Finance Administration

- Process invoices, purchase orders, and staff expenses.

- Maintain financial records and support with budget monitoring.

- Assist in preparing reports and audit documentation.

- Liaise with suppliers and service providers.

2. Human Resources

- Support recruitment processes and onboarding.

- Maintain accurate HR records (absences, DBS checks, training).

- Assist with payroll processes and coordination with payroll providers.

3. Administration and Office Management

- Oversee daily administrative tasks.

- Supervise administrative staff as required.

- Maintain accurate records in line with data protection.

- Produce correspondence and school documentation.

4. Premises and Health & Safety

- Manage maintenance requests and liaise with contractors.

- Support site safety compliance and risk assessments.

5. Governance and Compliance

- Assist with statutory returns and policy reviews.

- Support preparation of documents for governors and regulatory bodies.

Person Specification

Essential

- Experience in a school or business admin roles.

- Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office.

- Strong organisational and communication skills.

- Understanding of financial procedures.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

- Qualifications in finance or business admin.

- Experience with school systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, FMS).

- Knowledge of school funding and budget management.
