Radar Systems Manager Portreath
- CornwallPermanent, Full time, 40 hours per week Days and to cover shift work where required of 3 days on 3 days off Competitive salary plus benefits Serco are recruiting for a Radar Systems Manager to join our team based at Portreath in Cornwall. This role is multi-functional and reports directly to the Air Defence Senior Program Manager. Our Radar Systems Manager role will require a flexible individual who has knowledge of the BAE T102 Air Defence Radar System, Secondary Radar, CS/Guardian Systems and SSSB, Ground to Air Comms, Power distribution and Generator Systems at RRH Portreath.
You will be working closely with the Senior Programme manager to manage the onsite maintenance teams and liaise with key stakeholders in RRH Portreath, for example the onsite RAF team, 144 SU, BAE and ADWiMS. The individual will also be able to cover the duty cover, acting as duty cover radar engineer on a shift basis, if required.

Main Accountabilities:


- Act as the focal point for day-to-day management of all maintenance and fault rectification tasks.
- Manage the maintenance, repair, modification and ensure the safe operation of AD communication
- and the Type 102 Radar systems.
- Manage all AD and communication systems, to ensure that they are functioning correctly and
- providing a continuous, safe and reliable service.
- Responsible for maintaining, repairing and modifying technical equipment which includes:
- The Type 102 Radar
- VCS/Guardian Systems
- Secondary Radar
- SSSB
- Ground to Air Comms
- Power distribution and Generator Systems
- Ensure maintenance of current AD Staff Personal Technical Certificates and competency
- Demonstrate safe working practices and ensure personal safety and the safety of others
- Attend siting boards and safeguarding meetings, acting as the focal point
- Stakeholder management with local businesses and MOD Staff where required
- Assist with Project Controls and liaison with local supplier
- Management of site documentation and configuration control
- CLS Management
- Building custodian for identified buildings
- Responsible for H&S at the T102 RRH and those building identified at RRH Portreath.


What you’ll need to do the role:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


- Self-motivated, capable of working alone and within a team
- Strong ability to follow process consistently and methodically
- Good written and oral communication skills to allow effective communication with peers, and both
- technical and non-technical customers
- Ability to adapt and be flexible when needed
- A can-do attitude


Experience:



- Minimum 5 years’ experience of the Type 102 Radar
- Proven AD Equipment Maintenance experience
- Knowledge of AD Equipment and Operations
- Experience in the Royal Air Force (Desirable)
- Other requirements:
- Ability to obtain SC Clearance
- Driving Licence
