Opportunity Overview

The post holder will join a specialist team committed to supporting innovation in learning and teaching, and delivering a high-quality experience for our staff and students.

Reporting to the LTEC Higher Technical Skills Lead, the role holder will be a motivated individual with a strong background in pedagogy and supporting learning through the application of technologies. The role holder will join a central team of learning technologists and, working closely with the wider LTEC team, will both drive the adoption and development of learning technologies in our Academic Schools, and support the delivery of key University educational strategy and initiatives. The role holder will demonstrate relevant experience of supporting learning technologies in a higher education context and will have a strong awareness of current and emergent technologies and best practice.

The role requires excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills, the ability to engage academic and professional services staff at every level of the University, and the ability to build and maintain complex relationships with various stakeholders with differing requirements.

The post holder will foster productive relationships to embed a high quality, successful student experience at the heart of the University’s learning and teaching activities. Key relationships will be within LTEC as well as with the Library, the Quality Management Office, and our Digital IT directorate. In the academic community, key relationships include school leaders, programme and module leaders, and academic teaching staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic staff technical and pedagogic advice, guidance, and support on the use of new and existing technology to enable and support student success.
  • Support staff to develop practice through the use of technology across face to face, online, blended and hybrid environments in a range of synchronous and asynchronous delivery modes.
  • Support academic staff to design, develop and deliver high quality digital learning materials and resources.
  • Support academic staff to identify, analyse and resolve technical and practice related issues relating to the use of learning technologies.

About the School or Department

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the University of Salford’s Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre (LTEC). We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional with a track record of facilitating and developing the use of digital and learning technologies within the higher education sector.

LTEC is led by a senior academic and supported by a nucleus of people with a proven track record of
excellence in learning, teaching and assessment. It provides a focal point to disseminate and embed best practice, engaging with all teaching staff. Its role is to support and inspire educators and facilitate change through action. Working with and within Academic Schools to embed changes and enhancements to practice, the Centre is an enabler to inform and change practice and to communicate successes, bringing Salford to the forefront as a sector leader.

Working in partnership with Academic Developers, Academic Schools and Professional Services, the role holder with join an existing team of Learning Technologists. They will play a significant role in enabling and supporting our four Academic Schools in the application of digital technologies to enabled and develop high quality learning, teaching and assessment for our students and to promote pedagogic best practice across the institution.
