Summary
Key responsibilities:
General Maintenance: Carry out general maintenance tasks on company property and infrastructure as required.
Site Clearance & Maintenance: Undertake vegetation clearance, including the removal of overgrown trees, shrubs, and other foliage from radio tower sites, cabinet locations and along cable routes to ensure safe access and operational integrity.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks, basic maintenance, and ensure the cleanliness and safe operation of company equipment, including a cherry picker (MEWP - Mobile Elevated Work Platform).
Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and report any defects.
Driving & Logistics: Safely drive company vehicles, including vans and potentially vehicles with trailers (subject to licence categories) to transport tools, materials and installation colleagues to various work sites across our network footprint.
Assisting Network Engineers: Provide practical support to network engineers during the installation of fibre and wifi installations. This may include setting up work areas, handling materials and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Duct Installation: Assist with the excavation, laying and reinstatement of telecommunications ducts and chambers in residential streets, business parks and other designated areas. This will involve both manual digging and the use of small plant machinery where qualified.
Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to all UK health and safety regulations, company policies and site-specific requirements. Promote a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Required:
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential to this role in order to drive company vehicles to various sites.
- Proven experience in general maintenance or similar groundworks and construction roles.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Experience with operating small plant machinery (e.g., mini-digger, dumper) is desirable but not essential.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual labour.
- Strong work ethic, reliable, and punctual.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
Working pattern and contracted hours: Monday to Friday plus one Saturday every 4 weeks – working hours are between 9am to 5.30pm with 1 hour for lunch. Total hours per week: 37.5 hours per week, plus overtime. Part-time applicants also considered.
