An inclusive and well-respected primary school in the heart of Southwark (SE5) is seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join its dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to help pupils overcome barriers to learning in a nurturing and structured setting.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play an integral role in creating a safe, supportive learning environment by:

Providing consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to pupils with SEMH needs

Implementing behaviour regulation and de-escalation strategies to reduce anxiety and foster engagement

Supporting delivery of personalised learning and behaviour support plans, in collaboration with SENCOs and external professionals

Assisting transitions and encouraging routine, predictability, and emotional stability throughout the school day

Proven experience working with SEMH, SEND, or children with behavioural needs in a primary or specialist setting

A solid understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and classroom regulation strategies

A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to behaviour and emotional challenges

Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Team Teach, or MAPA are advantageous but not essential
