Summary
Are you a qualified plumber ready to pass on your skills and support others to build a better future?
We’re looking for a Plumbing Vocational Trainer to deliver City & Guilds qualifications up to Level 3 to small groups of prison based learners. You’ll provide hands-on training that develops plumbing expertise alongside employability, digital, and literacy skills — supporting rehabilitation and a pathway to sustainable employment.
This role is ideal for someone who’s passionate about their trade and wants to use it to make a real impact.
What you’ll be doing:
-Deliver structured, practical training in plumbing aligned to City & Guilds standards (up to Level 3).
-Build learners’ confidence by embedding communication, digital, and problem-solving skills into lessons.
-Tailor your approach to suit a range of learning needs, ensuring inclusive and accessible delivery.
-Use restorative practice to create a respectful, positive, and engaging learning environment.
-Collaborate with prison staff, support services, and external partners to support each learner’s journey.
-Promote the course internally to encourage participation and raise awareness of the value of the trade.
-Maintain accurate records and ensure all assessments, documentation, and safety practices are up to standard.
What we’re looking for:
-Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Plumbing or a related trade.
-Teaching or assessor qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
-Confidence delivering both theory and practical content to groups.
-An understanding of the barriers faced by learners in custody — and the motivation to help overcome them.
-Great communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
-Previous experience delivering training is ideal, but we’ll support the right person to grow into the role.
Why join us?
-A chance to make a difference through purposeful teaching.
-Ongoing support to gain teaching and assessing qualifications.
-Be part of a close-knit education team making real change every day.
-Opportunities for personal and professional growth in a rewarding environment
